The below change log represents the key changes made to FSX: Gold Edition to create FSX: Steam Edition.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition Change Log Oh, I did find a Steam post listing the changes from the FSX Gold Edition to the Steam Edition: I'm sure this is something the Steam community will be on top of quickly. The old aircraft do load, but the exterior paint is missing and the panels are iffy some aircraft work, some just have a lot of blank spots on their panels. There is no Steam Workshop support, but I did figure out where to drop some old downloaded aircraft I got from one of the FlightSim sites. The ground as before is a compromise, not a lot of fancy detail, but trees and houses to give yourself some sense of motion and altitude: I'm also at 1920x1200x32 with most of the sliders up high, except for those that generate air or ground traffic, as that eats a lot of CPU cycles.

With some tweaking I'm running it at 60 FPS (there is no Vsnyc support, but you do get a slider so you can set your desired FPS). It installed fine with no issues and runs just dandy. My rig consists of: Intel i7 4770K 3.5GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX 780 3GB, Win7 64bit, so I have the horsepower to run this. The Dovetail folks, who apparently bought the rights to FSX to bring it to Steam, have done some minor bug fixes and a new splash screen, but apparently not much else. The Steam Edition of FSX is the released Gold edition which included the add-on Acceleration pack (I think that's what they called it). I've owned pretty much every one of the MS Flight Sims since the first, and I actually bought the original boxed version of this about eight years ago, but back then my rig could barely run it. Got Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam Edition as a gift from Alefroth (much thanks!) and I figured since it came out today ( and is on sale for the next 37 hours) I'd start a thread.
